![]() ![]() The net result is that BB shirts give you a bit more chest room than the measurements would lead you to believe. BB shirts are cut with lower armholes than CT, which means that the two chest measurements correspond to different places on the chest. This site has a detailed comparison of their measurements: (Though I think the chest size comparison is a bit misleading. It may be helpful to look at all the fits that the two companies offer. But if you need the sides taken in and the sleeves slimmed, then it can get pretty expensive. If you just have excess material at the back that puffs out over your pants, you can have darts added for very little money. That said, I don't think the quality difference is significant enough to make a lot of additional tailoring worthwhile. But that's always been with their casual shirts the 3 dress shirts I have from them are all nice (though a step down from my BB dress shirt). CT quality also varies a lot, and I've gotten a few real duds from them that I've had to return. The BB shirts are generally higher quality (nicer fabrics, nicer finishes on the non-iron shirts, single needle stitching and generally more refined stitching). I have three BB shirts and about ten CT shirts. If you couldn't tell, I really wanna get the BB shirt but am concerned that it won't be able to be tailored enough to give me the look I want without basically destroying the shirt. I did scroll through the sidebar and there wasn't anything on this particular topic. sorry for the uneducated question on this. For example, Jack was trying on a size 36 and it fits more like a 40. They’ve been expanding into shoes and suits and other kinds of stuff. ![]() Would this be achievable with a fair amount of tailoring with the BB shirt or should I just go for the CT shirt with minor alterations? Charles Tyrwhitt (D+) This is a brand that is more at the lower-end spectrum of the price and really popular for their shirts. I love it when my shirts hug my body fairly closely (obviously not skin tight but snug). How much can a shirt be tailored? As I said, I am new to the tailoring world so I'm unaware of just how much tailoring can be done. ![]() I'm fairly new to tailoring so I'm not sure what the limitations are to how much a shirt can be tailored. My concern is that their fit (Brooks Brothers) is much less slim even on the slimmest models. I've done my research and it seems to be the consensus that Brooks Brothers has better quality, which certainly interests me. I am debating between getting a bunch of shirts from Brooks Brothers (in the Milano fit) or from Charles Tyrwhitt. I have a very slim but athletic frame (5'11, 160 lbs, 38" chest, and 32" waste). It's been a couple years, business is going really well and started wanting to improve my wardrobe shirts specifically, as I've already upgraded my shoe game. So I'm in real estate and started out in that business with a wardrobe of mostly Express and the occasional shirt from TJ Maxx of varying brands. ![]()
